A movie detailing Casey Anthony's 2011 murder trial will soon be hitting the small screen — and while the cast includes some well-known actors, a relative newcomer has landed the role of the controversial single mother.
A rep for Lifetime confirms to Yahoo! TV that Holly Deveaux, a Canadian actress, has been cast as 26-year-old Casey, the Florida mom convicted of lying to police as they investigated the death of her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee, in their upcoming movie "Imperfect Justice." This is the biggest role to date for the 19-year-old Casey look-alike — who reportedly beat out Kristen Stewart, Alyssa Milano, and Jennifer Love Hewitt — for the part.
Deveaux's credits include several TV shows in her native Canada, including the high school drama "Baxter," the TNT telepic "Silent Witness" with Anne Heche and Dermot Mulroney, and most recently the movie short "Wake Me Up." "I'm lucky to have been able to do wide variety of roles in the few years I've been acting professionally," she said in an interview last year. "I've been able to play very, very sweet girls and I've been able to play very dark twisted women." Deveaux's role will actually be small compared to the others in the TV movie because the story will center on the trial and its lawyers, not Casey's life. Rob Lowe has been cast as prosecutor Jeff Ashton, who wrote the book “Prosecuting Casey Anthony” on which the movie is based. Elizabeth Mitchell of "Lost" fame with play fellow prosecutor Linda Drane Burdick and “The Office” star Oscar Nunez will be defense attorney Jose Baez.
As far as casting for the extended Anthony family, Deveaux will be joined by veteran actor Kevin Dunn of “Luck,” who will play Casey's father George, who was accused by his daughter's lawyers of sexually molesting her when she was a child and helping to hide the body of his dead granddaughter. Casting is still underway for Casey's mother, Cindy Anthony.
Alison Cross, who wrote the film said that all the dialogue for Casey will come from public records and they won't be doing re-enactments of Casey's life. “It’s not our intention to make a movie that tries Casey Anthony for the third time,” Cross said. “She was tried in court and she was tried by public opinion.” The film starts shooting today and will last for 20 days.
Strong public support for same-sex marriage exceeds strong opposition by a significant margin for the first time in ABC News/Washington Post polls, and African-Americans have moved more in favor, perhaps taking their lead from Barack Obama on the issue. Overall, 53 percent of Americans say gay marriage should be legal, steady the past year but up from 36 percent in just 2006. Thirty-nine percent "strongly" support it, while 32 percent are strongly opposed - the first time strong sentiment has tilted positive. Six years ago, by contrast, strong views on the issue were negative by a broad 27-point margin.
Further, this poll, produced for ABC by Langer Research Associates, finds that support for gay marriage has reached a new high among African-Americans in ABC/Post polls, up from four in 10 in recent surveys to 59 percent now. Another result shows increasing exposure: Seventy-one percent of Americans now say they have a friend, family member or acquaintance who's gay, up from 59 percent in 1998. People who know someone who's gay are 20 points more likely than others to support gay marriage. Regardless of that shift, Obama's May 9 announcement of his support for gay marriage shows no measurable impact on political preferences. While more support than oppose his position, 51-41 percent, Americans divide on whether it's a political plus or minus, with most saying it's not a major factor in their vote choice.

DC Comics plans to reintroduce a character as gay, comic blog BleedingCool.com reports.
DC Comics co-publisher Dan DiDio announced the plans over the weekend at Kapow Comic Convention in London, saying that the existing superhero who was previously assumed to be straight will be "one of our most prominent gay characters." He did not specify in which issue the reveal will occur.
The news comes a year after DiDio told The Advocate that he only intends to introduce new characters in the DC universe as gay rather than make existing ones gay. Of the change in plans, DC Comics Senior VP Bob Wayne told BleedingCool.com that DiDio's view "has evolved," echoing President Barack Obama's recent endorsement of same-sex marriage.
The gay DC superhero won't be the first gay comic book character. In 2010, Archie Comics introduced gay student Kevin Keller, who later got married. Marvel Comics will reportedly feature the first gay superhero wedding between Northstar and his boyfriend in next month's issue of Astonishing X-Men.

And I love it! It arrived yesterday, so I spent HOURS last night cleaning, rearranging, setting up preferences, downloading some free stuff, transferring data from old console to new one, etc. It took 3 hours to download the game 'Halo: Reach'! I called GameStop and told them that 'Fable 3' came with my console, and I had no interest in playing it. I asked them how much they would give me for it... $2.50, in-store credit. They said that the fact that it is coming free with some xbox 360 Slims should be an indication that it's not in high-demand, lol. The Slim runs quieter, cooler, and has wi-fi. What's even cooler is that the buttons on it are touch-sensitive, so you barely gotta even touch them! When you open the disc drive it makes this neat "BING!" noise, and the wireless controllers actually work wirelessly! My old xbox 360 was so messed up that wireless controllers would not work. And my room looks so much better! I yanked out my old, dusty stereo and put the new xbox 360 Slim in it's place. No more xbox 360 sittin on top of a box, lol. And I rearranged cords of other stuff that is plugged in so it lookes neater over there, in general. Gonna donate the old stereo and 'Fable 3' to AmVets tomorrow. What a great investment this new console is!

It's finally official - Britney Spears and Demi Lovato are joining "The X Factor."
After much speculation and numerous reports, FOX confirmed the pop stars were joining the judging panel of Simon Cowell's reality show during the Upfront Presentation in New York City on Monday afternoon.
Britney and Demi will replace the departed Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul, who left the show after one season, along with host Steve Jones.
"Not to be negative about the people leaving, but we just felt the mix could be more effective and more entertaining," Peter Rice, entertainment chairman for the Fox Networks Group, told reporters earlier in the day on Monday.
Back in February, Simon spoke to Access Hollywood's Billy Bush where the reality mogul said "X Factor" would be a "walk in the park" for Britney.
"I'm fascinated by [Britney.] The fact that she's one of the most talked about - not just pop stars - but people in the world today, means that you've got this star power," Simon told Billy at the time. "This girl has got resilience. I would think that if she's managed to sustain a family, a career, which is tough, ['X Factor' would be] a walk in the park."
While Simon is clearly impressed with the chops Britney will bring to the table, not everyone appears to agree.
During a press conference earlier this month, new "America's Got Talent" judge Howard Stern said he doesn't think the pop princess will bring much to the judges' table.
"As far as any real criticism, I think Simon [Cowell] and L.A. Reid will be doing that. I think Britney is going to stand there and eat a lollipop and wear a sexy outfit. I don't anticipate great opinions out of her," Stern said. "I think she's going to sit there like J.Lo and [say], 'Oh, you're wonderful. You're terrific. Do you think I could get a perfume endorsement out of this? You think I could perform on the show?' I think that's what it's about.
"I'll tune in to see what kind of train wreck she is, absolutely," he added.

I am, yet again, having issues with my xbox 360. Instead of more repairs, I have decided to buy the latest version on the xbox 360 SLIM. I have been doing LOTS of research on it, and I know what additional items I need to have in order for my controllers to work, transfer over all my data, etc. I am gonna wait 'til about mid-May, am also thinking about getting the NetFlix streaming service, mainly for shows that aren't on DVD...cause I still love to buy official DVDs.

I would have no problem saying or doing to people what the other guys told me to say/do to strangers, just ask Vinny! Everytime we go through a checkout line, I love to say something shocking or embarrassing to the cashier, and, if it also embarasses Vinny, it's a bonus!

Literally. Yesterday, I was doing some more volunteer (free) work at a real estate company, they needed some help in their office. I received a call from a tenant, complaining that a new tenant left FECAL MATTER (poop) in the washer and in the dryer, and now the hallway also smells like FECES. I had to write up a report about it, then an open letter to all the residents at the property about the issue. So gross.
Ugh, I regret to inform that I...have joined Twitter (I FEEL SHAME). I mainly use it to "follow" some celebrities and companies. I also "follow" some less-popular celebs so I do Tweet with some. My Twitter name is @tverheyn.
Also, on Sunday night, I was no longer a Red Robin virgin. Their food is so good! It's nice to finally go to a burger place THAT HAS DELICIOUS BURGERS!

Whitney Houston died from accidental drowning, but the drowning may have been spurred by heart disease and cocaine found in her system, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner's office, which released a report on the death today.
"We had approximately a 60 percent occlusion in the arteries -- in the narrowing of the arteries," Craig Harvey, chief coroner with the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office. "So, that condition complicated by the chronic cocaine use all combined to result in her drowning.
"The final cause of death has been established as drowning due to atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use," Harvey said.
In the official report under the category "How Injury Occurred," it is noted that the singer was "found submerged in bathtub filled with water; cocaine intake."
The report said that along with cocaine, metabolites were identified in Houston's system and were contributory to her death. Marijuana, Xanax, flexeril (muscle relaxant) and diphenhydramine (benadryl) were also found but were not determined to have contributed to her death.
"Other drugs were identified in toxicology," Harvey said. "However, their levels were at either a therapeutic or sub-therapeutic level; therefore, they are not believed to be contributory to the death."
Atherosclerotic heart disease is a build-up of plaque that narrows the small blood vessels that supply blood and oxygen to the heart, according to the National Institutes of Health. It is not known how long the singer had the condition.
No trauma or foul play is suspected. It is anticipated that the final coroner report will be available for release within two weeks.
Houston's family immediately reacted to the news.
"We are saddened to learn of the toxicology results, although we are glad to now have closure,' said Patricia Houston, Whitney's business manager and sister-in-law.
Whitney Houston's official death certificate was filed in Los Angeles County on Feb. 15, but the immediate cause of death was listed as "deferred" and the manner of death was noted to be "pending investigation."
The 48-year-old singer was found "underwater and unconscious" in the bathtub in her room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Feb. 11.
Prescription drugs were found nearby, and bottles of champagne and beer were in an adjacent room at the hotel, as seen in photos of the scene obtained by TMZ.
Amid the circumstances of her sudden death and Houston's history of drug addiction, many speculated that the singer died after taking a toxic mix of prescription drugs and alcohol. Houston's autopsy was completed shortly after she died, but toxicology tests were ordered because ""you can look at a body and not know [what] the cause of death is,'' according to Winter. "You might have a suspicion, but the person could have suffered a heart attack or embolism."
Investigators also looked into doctors who may have written multiple sedative prescriptions for Houston as they tried to determine the cause of the pop superstar's death.
Winter told ABC News the office was "conducting an investigation and will try to obtain medical records from her doctors."
Earlier this month Oprah Winfrey interviewed Whitney's manager and sister-in-law, Patricia Houston, who gave the family's first account about what happened in Whitney's hotel room on the day the singer suddenly died.
After running errands on Feb. 11, Pat returned to the hotel and visited a room where Whitney was set to film an infomercial.
A few minutes later Patricia said she went down the hall to visit Whitney's room. "I heard screaming," Pat told Winfrey and recounted that she saw Whitney's hair stylist "fall to her knees, saying oh my God, oh my God." Pat recalled that she walked by a woman who opened her hotel room door to see what was going on and told her to call 911 immediately.
A tearful Pat then told Winfrey that as she entered Whitney's room she saw her brother Ray Watson, the singer's security guard, trying to revive Whitney "to the point of exhaustion. I told him let it go, I'm sorry." She added that when she finally saw Whitney "she had a peacefulness on her face." Pat described her sense of shock and inability to leave Whitney's side even after the paramedics asked her to.
Pat admitted that the "handwriting was on the wall" with Whitney. She said she knew the singer was in trouble at the "end of the '90s" but believes that Bobby Brown, Houston's ex-husband, wasn't necessairly the cause. "I can't say that he introduced drugs to her," she said. "I don't think that's true." She also didn't think that the star's problems in her final days involved substance abuse. Instead, she attributed Whitney's downfall to a lifestyle change where she saw Whitney "chasing a dream ... looking for comfort, love ... and it was younger."
The singer was laid to rest at the Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, N.J on February 19th after star studded funeral at the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, N.J., where Houston honed in her powerful voice in the choir.
